Even as the medical report of the 22-year-old rape survivor remains shrouded in mystery, and the police cast doubts on the veracity of her complaint, doctors said “abrasions sustained by a gang rape victim are impossible to fake”. Indirapuram police station chief, Rashiq Ali, said, “SSP sahib (senior superintendent of police, Dharmendra Yadav) has already said the complainant had some abrasions on her body. And, the pathology swab report is awaited. Then we can tell you the exact facts.” A doctor said, “Can a person, for instance, inflict nail scratches leading downwards on the upper back? No way. Similarly, there are many other kinds of injuries that cannot be self-inflicted. For instance, you can not bite your own cheek. The Ghaziabad police can easily call in forensic experts to examine the abrasions”and other injuries sustained by the woman.”
