THE RED BULL BC ONE NEW DELHI CYPHER DRAWS TO A SENSATIONAL CLOSE
Three of the city’s top breakers make it through to the Red Bull BC One India Cypher 2016
New Delhi 10th May, 2016: The Red Bull BC One New Delhi Cypher, held at the Saraswati Music College last evening saw some of the city’s best B-boys battle it out to grab a spot in the second edition of the Red Bull BC One India Cypher. The passion and enthusiasm of the B-Boys and B-Girls was infectious, as they showcased their best moves and cheered for their counterparts.
The participants from New Delhi who will now travel to Mumbai for the Red Bull BC One India Cypher are:
- B-Boy GodHand- PRanjal Rawat
- B-Boy Smoke- Kunal Singh
- B-Boy Jack- Jai Khanagwal
The athleticism, rigor and swag of these B-boys was judged by Hong 10, Red Bull BC One All Star and two time World Champion. The selected B-boys will now battle it out against the top breakers from Mumbai, Kolkata and Bangalore for the coveted title of the Red Bull BC One India Cypher Champion 2016 and qualify directly for the World Finals in Japan in November, the highest level of the championship.
The second edition of the Red Bull BC One India Cypher will be held at Bandra Amphitheatre, Bandstand, Mumbai. Red Bull BC One All Stars Hong 10, who was also a judge for the first edition last year, and Menno will judge the battles, alongside star South Korean B-Boy Differ.
The Judges
HONG 10: Two-time Red Bull BC One World Champion, in 2006 and 2013, Hong 10 is recognized for being one of the most creative and strength-driven B-Boys in the world. He’s also known for his extremely complex, clean and creative style, as well as his mastery of complex freeze combinations, and a number of signature moves, including the Hong 10
Freeze, where he lifts his legs up horizontally over his body, balancing only on his head and hand.
MENNO: Representing the new generation of Dutch B-Boys, Menno is known to be a dancer with heart, explosive energy and plenty of surprises. Red Bull BC One World Champion in 2014, his signature moves are baby-freeze transitions, slides and rolls. Aside from dancing,
Menno is also well-respected for his painting and graphic design work, which he creates under the moniker Mennopoly.
DIFFER: Currently among South Korea’s most prominent B-Boys, Differ’s breaking career goes back close to 20 years, when he first discovered the art while in middle school. Four years later, he had won his first world championship at the UK B-Boy Championships. Also a finalist at the Red Bull BC One World Final in 2012, Differ has travelled the world with his talent, being involved in choreography, teaching, performances, training, event planning, performance productions, video production, design and more.
What is Red Bull BC One?
Red Bull BC One is a 1-on-1 B-Boy World Championship that was established in Biel, Switzerland, in 2004. Within the scene, it is widely regarded as the foremost competition of its kind, and every year, thousands of dancers compete in Red Bull BC One Cyphers – preliminary, national and regional level competitions – across the globe, for a chance to be one of 16 finalists to compete at the World Finals and win the prestigious Red Bull BC One World Championship.
Over 90 Red Bull BC One Cyphers are conducted across the world, followed by – with the revamped format – one World Final. One of the biggest aspects of Red Bull BC One is to support and strengthen the communities and to open opportunities to the dancers to develop their skills and perform on a global stage.
Who are the All Stars?
The Red Bull BC One All Stars is a crew of – presently 11 – internationally renowned dancers who represent the best of the best in the B-Boying scene across the globe. They serve as ambassadors of Hip Hop culture, with their main goal being to give back to the community and share their wealth of experience and skills with the younger generation of dancers. They travel the world to teach workshops, judge competitions and battle, continually challenging and pushing the limits of B-Boying.
