Mumbai (India), 29th April 2023: According to a Friday report, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) may go public with Jio Financial Services as soon as October of this year.
According to Bloomberg, Mukesh Ambani’s RIL is in talks with regulators to gain the necessary permits for the market debut of its digital financial services unit.
According to persons familiar with the subject, Reliance Industries Ltd. plans to float its stock as soon as October.
According to a March exchange filing, RIL will convene a meeting of shareholders and creditors on May 2 to vote on the plan to spin off and list the unit.
Bloomberg reported last month that it has appointed Hitesh Sethia, a top executive from McLaren Strategic Ventures, as the unit’s CEO.
In its most recent note on Reliance Industries (RIL), Nomura India stated that the demerger of Jio Financial Services would help the oil-to-telecom major’s financial services business attract different sets of investors, strategic partners, and lenders with specific interests in the financial services business.
Jio Financial Services, as a distinct firm, will be able to have higher leverage in accordance with industry standards, it said, adding that Jio Financial Services will be able to drive value unlocking as it goes up, give higher multiples for peers in these industries.
It was stated that the planned scheme’s implementation is subject to clearance from the National Company Law Tribunal, the Reserve Bank of India, the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India, and other regulatory bodies.
