With his extraordinary character and noble deeds he has aspired and inspired a whole nation as the “Missile Man of India”. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was an inspirational institution-builder and a team leader who always wanted India to become a self-sustained nation. On his 86th birth anniversary lets remember how great of human being he was.

Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam better known as A.P.J. Abdul Kalam the 11th president of India was born on October 15, 1931. A career scientist from ISRO turned statesman hailed from Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, and studied physics and aerospace engineering. He spent the next 40 years as a scientist and science administrator, mainly at the Defence Research and Development Organisation(DRDO) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). He was intimately involved in India’s civilian space programme and military missile development efforts too. That’s how he came to be known as the Missile Man of India for his work on the development of ballistic missile and launch vehicle technology.
