After Penny Mordaunt withdrawal from the contest on Monday, Conservative Party leader Rishi Sunak is set to become the UK’s first Indian-origin Prime Minister.

Penny Mordaunt announced her decision on Twitter.

Tomorrow, Acting Prime Minister Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak will meet with King Charles at Buckingham Palace. Truss will formally resign from her position.

Sunak is the fifth Prime Minister of the United Kingdom in six years.

Liz Truss resigned as Britain’s 56th Prime Minister on October 20, clearing the way for Conservative Party members to take on the responsibility of helming the government and steering the country away from the looming economic disaster.
