Patna, August 29, 2023: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad has strongly criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi in anticipation of the upcoming I.N.D.I.A alliance meeting scheduled in Mumbai on Friday.

“We are going to climb on the throat of Narendra Modi. We have caught hold of his throat and we have to remove him,” Lalu Prasad told reporters in Patna. This statement by the RJD supremo reflects his fierce stance ahead of the meeting.

This isn’t the first instance of Lalu Prasad openly targeting the Prime Minister. In the past, he referred to PM Modi as the ‘convenor of corrupt’ when NCP chief Sharad Pawar’s nephew Ajit joined the Shiv Sena (Shinde)-BJP government in Maharashtra.

The I.N.D.I.A bloc, consisting of leaders from 26 opposition parties, is set to convene in Mumbai on September 1. The gathering is expected to unveil the official common logo and deliberate on seat-sharing strategies for the upcoming state polls. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar hinted at the potential expansion of the alliance, with the inclusion of more regional parties.

Prominent non-BJP leaders like Uddhav Thackeray, Arvind Kejriwal, Mamata Banerjee, Rahul Gandhi, Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, and Sharad Pawar are among those anticipated to attend the event.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge announced the opposition bloc’s name as the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (India) on July 18. A secretariat in Delhi will be established for campaign management, and an 11-member coordination committee’s names will be discussed during the Mumbai meeting.

“We are defending the idea of our great country India. You can look into the history and tell that nobody has been able to defeat the idea of India,” remarked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

The meeting holds significance as opposition parties rally together to strategize their efforts in countering the ruling party in the upcoming political landscape.
