Robin Hibu: Arunachal Pradesh’s Pioneer IPS Officer Ascends to DGP Rank

New Delhi, 11th June 2024: Robin Hibu, a trailblazer from Arunachal Pradesh, has been appointed as the Director General of Police (DGP) for the state. This significant achievement marks another milestone in his distinguished career, as he is not only the first Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from Arunachal Pradesh but also the first to reach the rank of DGP.

Hibu’s remarkable journey began in 1993 when he entered the IPS. Over the years, he has held several prominent positions, including Joint Commissioner of Police in New Delhi. In his current role, he also serves as the manager of the Delhi Police Housing Corporation.

Recently promoted to DGP by the Home Ministry of the Government of India, Hibu’s dedication and exemplary service have earned him numerous accolades. Among these are the Samajik Ratna Award, Global Mahatma Gandhi Award, and the Utkrishta Seva Medal from the Newspapers Association of India. Additionally, he has been honored with the Space Security Service Medal.

Born in 1968 in the small village of Hong in the Ziro Valley of Arunachal Pradesh, Hibu’s early life was marked by humble beginnings. He pursued higher education with determination, earning a Master’s degree in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University.

Hibu’s ascent from a small village to the highest echelons of the police force is a testament to his perseverance and dedication. His story is an inspiration, showcasing the power of hard work and determination in achieving one’s goals.
