Rohith Vemula’s Mother’s Joins IYC Rally to Parliament Demanding Resignation of HRD Minister Smriti Irani

Indian Youth Congress Organized a Massive Protest over suicide of Dalit Student Rohith Vemula against HRD Minister Smriti Irani at Jantar Mantar with thousands of Youth Congress Activist under the leadership of IYC President Amarinder Singh Raja and Many Senior Leaders like Digvijay Singh, Oscar Fernandes, Randeep Singh Surjewala, Kumari Shailaja, Mahendra Joshi, Raj babbar, Jiten Prasad,  also shared the stage.

Thousands of the Protestor gathered at Jantar Mantar and Marched towards Parliament, Police used water cannons to stop the protestors and to disperse the crowd, still Activist managed to cross barricading and Burnt the Effigy of Smriti Irani following which police resorted to Lathi Charge and more than 20 activists were injured and few of them were taken to Hospital as some of them received Head injuries too. More than 1000 Protestor were detained in Parliament Street Police Station along with IYC President Amarinder Singh Raja.

Rohith Vemula’s Mother shared the Stage at the Youth Congress Protest and Said “ We are thankful to Shrimati Sonia Gandhi Ji and Shri Rahul Gandhi Ji and Shri Amarinder Singh Raja to fight against the injustice done to my son Rohith and also said Congress is not playing any politics and Rahul Gandhi Ji had come to Hyderabad to Support me and gave assurance that he will fight till the end” .

AICC Communication Incharge said “Students views cannot be suppressed as they are our future and there should be space for Discussion and raise their voice against Injustice”.

Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh said on Ishrat Case “why GK Pillai didn’t speak when he was at his post and the reason he is talking in favour of BJP now is because Gk Pillai is now working for Gautam Adani Company”.  Kumari Shailaja Said PM Modi is trying to suppress voice of youth of the nation but youth Congress will fight till the last breath. Rajya Sabha MP Raj babbar said “ We are here to fight for the youth and even Police cannot suppress our voice by any means of Lathi charge, Water Canons, etc.

IYC President Amarinder Singh Raja Said “ Rohith Vemula was not only his Mother’s Son but he was the son of the Nation. It’s not a Suicide but political Murder committed by HRD Minister Smriti Irani and Misleading nation from Parliament in her speech where she spoke blatant lies and PM Modi tweets Satyamev Jayate without verifying credentials of her speech. He said we will fight till the last breath of our life for justice to Rohith Vemula”.

This protest march gives a glimpse of unity among the youth of Nation, where members of Youth Congress and Office Bearers from across the country, along with country’s youth, came out together not as individuals but as One
