RTI: Groundwater depleting in UP-NCR

In reply to an RTI query, the Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) has revealed that underground water resource is rapidly depleting in the districts of Gautam Budh Nagar and Ghaziabad in UP-NCR. In a separate query demanding information about quality of groundwater in the region, the board has replied that the area under the municipal corporation of Ghaziabad has been declared a ‘critical area’ due to contamination of the resource.
