Russia, August 22nd, 2022: Darya Dugin, the daughter of Russian political commentator Alexander Dugin, was killed on Saturday evening after a suspected explosive device detonated in the Toyota Land Cruiser she was in.

Alexander Dugin is an ideologue close to President Vladimir Putin and is also known to be a ‘war mastermind’.
Some have even dubbed Dugin as “Putin’s brain”.

Darya Dugin was driving back from a festival when her car suddenly exploded. Her father, Alexander, was meant to be traveling with her but he took a separate car.

The bomb placed in the car exploded while she was driving on a highway 40 km outside of Moscow.
Dugina died on the scene and a homicide investigation has been opened.

Denis Pushilin, often called Putin’s stooge has openly accused Ukraine of plotting this attack on Russia and killing Darya.
“The terrorists of the Ukrainian regime, trying to eliminate Alexander Dugin, blew up his daughter… In a car. Blessed memory of Daria, she is a real Russian girl”, he wrote on Telegram.

Darya was only 29 when she lost her life. She is the first high-profile supporter of Putin to be assassinated near the capital.
While Russia holds Ukraine responsible, they claim they had no part in it, although, many Ukrainians expressed their glee on social media after they heard the news.
