Safdarjung Hospital to Introduce Battery-Operated Vans for Patients

New Delhi, 29 September 2022: Delhiā€™s Safdarjung hospital has announced that five battery-operated vehicles will be introduced to transport patients around the hospital grounds.

The Medical Superintendent, Safdarjung hospital, Dr B L Sherwal clarified that the traffic between these two gates causes a lot of confusion, therefore this is starting from gate number 1 to gate number 7. ‘We are working on the acquisition and would probably buy the cars in a month” he said

However, as a result the number of three-wheelers-autorickshaws may not be allowed on the hospital site.

The patients attending the emergency block at Safdarjung Hospital may, however, use three-wheelers.

He further said that the six-seater vans would pick up patients and caregivers from various OPDs and centers and be quite useful. The service will be provided without charge, and both doctors and employees will be allowed to use it.

While the elderly, people with disabilities, and others in need who must walk great distances within the campus will benefit from this service.

Dr Sherwal also clarified that hospital’s Rs3 crore cash prize from winning the Kayakalp award the previous year is being used to pay for the five vehicles.
