“Sales of Commercial and Passenger Vehicles, 2018 was a blast”, Says Rajan Wadhera, President, SIAM

New Delhi (14/01/2019) : Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) today shared the reports of Cumulative Sales Growth During April-December 2018 of Auto Industry which showed positive sign across the segments.
President Rajan Wadhera was present at the session.

“The industry produced a total 23,861,485 vehicles including passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, three wheelers, two wheelers and quadricycle in April-December 2018 as against 21,432,030 in April-December 2017, registering a growth of 11.34 percent over the same period last year”, said Rajan Wadhera addressing media.

Commenting on the consumption of Passenger Vehicles in the last year, his words were,

“The sale of Passenger Vehicles grew by 4.37 percent in April-December 2018 over the same period last year. Within the Passenger Vehicles, the sales of Passenger Cars, Utility Vehicle & Vans grew by. 4.34 percent, 2.63 percent and 12.89 percent respectively in April-December 2018 over the same period last year. ”



Following are the details of the consumption of Commercial, Three-Wheelers and Two-Wheelers:

The overall Commercial Vehicles segment registered a growth of 25.86 percent in April-December 2018 as compared to the same period last year.
Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCVs) increased by 24.69 percent and Light Commercial Vehicles grew by 26.60 percent in April-December 2018 over the same period last year.

Three Wheelers sales increased by 18.85 percent in April-December 2018 over the same period last year. Within the Three Wheelers, Passenger Carrier sales registered a growth of 21.02 percent and Goods Carrier grew by 9.70 percent in April-December 2018 over April-December 2017.

Two Wheelers sales registered a growth at 9.59 percent in April-December 2018 over April-December 2017. Within the Two Wheelers segment, Scooters, Motorcycles and Mopeds grew by 4.76 percent, 12.55 percent and 4.59 percent respectively in April-December 2018 over April-December 2017.
