Salient points of press conference by BJP National President, Shri Amit Shah

The surgical strikes across the LoC establish the Modi government’s policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism. The achievement of the strikes is of the Indian Army. The political will to sanction the same is of the Prime Minister, Sri Narendra Modi ji: Amit Shah

¬¬¬¬

The whole country, with all its enthusiasm and energy, salutes our jawans’ bravery, courage and professionalism. The BJP stands united with our soldiers: Amit Shah

¬¬¬¬

By using the phrase “jawanon ke khoon ki dalali” Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi has crossed all limits of decency. I believe this is an insult to the bravery of our Army. It is an insult to 125 crore Indians: Amit Shah

¬¬¬¬

On behalf of the BJP, I deplore and condemn Sri Rahul Gandhi’s statement. The Congress president, Smt Sonia Gandhi, must explain whether her son’s view is her view as well: : Amit Shah

¬¬¬¬

Rahul ji will be well advised to limit the use of the term “dalali” (brokerage) to his party and not impose it on us. May his party stay happy with such activities! We stand for the motto of “Jai Jawan”; we do not believe in dalali: Amit Shah

¬¬¬¬

The whole country knows who did dalali in all the scams from Bofors to Embraer, from coal blocks to 2G: Amit Shah

¬¬¬¬

If Sri Rahul Gandhi has a problem with the people of the country and BJP feeling proud of the achievement of the surgical strikes, the problem is actually in his thoughts. Instead of commenting on such major issues, he could concentrate on the ‘potato factory’: Amit Shah

¬¬¬¬

The whole country is upbeat about the surgical strikes. It is worth exploring why Sri Rahul Gandhi is not happy about it or proud of it: Amit Shah

¬¬¬¬

How crass it is for someone to use the term dalali in context of the sacrifice of our jawans! Our soldiers’ sacrifice is priceless. Sri Rahul Gandhi’s statement smacks of the bankruptcy of ideas in the Congress camp: Amit Shah

¬¬¬¬

By coining phrases like “maut ke saudagar”, “zaher ki kheti” and “khoon ki dalali”, the Congress cannot deny the reality: Amit Shah

¬¬¬¬

The first politician to question the authenticity of the surgical strikes was AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal. After his statement, Pakistanis trended #KejriwalSupportsPakistan and #PakistanStandsWith Kejriwal on social media: Amit Shah

¬¬¬¬

Today, the whole country, the central government and BJP stand united in solidarity with the Army’s jawans. We do not want the morale of our soldiers to be affected at any cost: Amit Shah

¬¬¬¬

We do not trust the statements of anti-India leaders; we have faith in the bullets of the Indian Army. The Army is wholly capable of defending the country: Amit Shah

¬¬¬¬

If they had studied the restiveness and loss of nerve in Pakistanis, they would not have to seek any proof of the surgical strikes. I would like to say just this much to the cynics: Amit Shah

¬¬¬¬

The Indian media has played a remarkable role in exposing Pakistan-sponsored terrorism worldwide: Amit Shah

¬¬¬¬

The BJP national president, Sri Amit Shah ji, address a press conference at the central office of the party, Friday, and condemned the statement of “jawanon ke khoon ki dalali” that Congress vice-president Sri Rahul Gandhi had issued the previous day, which had the potential to affect the morale of our defence forces. He appreciated the work of the Indian media in exposing the Pakistani propaganda and presenting to the people of the country the facts of the surgical strikes and the bravery, courage and professionalism of the Indian Army.

The BJP president said that it was rather unfortunate that after the Indian Army presented an example of bravery, courage and professionalism with the surgical strikes across the LoC, certain political parties are deplorably raising questions about the authenticity of the military operation. He said that the BJP and its government have always desisted from politicising the bravery and success of the Army, but some parties are dragging them to politics. After the surgical strikes in PoK, Sri Shah said, the government tried its best to not politicise the affair. To ensure that, he said, the press briefing about the military operation was done by the DGMO. And yet a section of the opposition questioned the operations. We condemn such politics. We deplore the act of these opposition leaders who have, in effect, hit the morale of our brave soldiers. It is very unfortunate, Sri Shah said, that some people are insulting the Army, the martyrs and questioning the bravery and sacrifice of ours jawans.

Sri Shah asked who these elements were trying to target. Do they realise, he asked, that they doubt the Indian Army that has executed the courageous plan of surgical strikes and our soldiers who have fought terrorists without caring for their own lives! We condemn this politics; all parties must restrain themselves. The first politician to question the authenticity of the surgical strikes was AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal. After his statement, Pakistanis trended #KejriwalSupportsPakistan and #PakistanStandsWith Kejriwal on social media. It was followed by some Congress leaders raising questions about the Army operation, but it was Congress voice-president Sri Rahul Gandhi who crossed all limits of decency by coining the phrase “jawanon ke khoon ki dalali”. It is an insult to 125 crore Indians. What dalali is Rahul ji talking about? Who did dalali in all the scams from Bofors to Embraer, from coal blocks to 2G? It is not unnatural, Sri Shah said, that the term is hidden in some recess of Rahul ji’s mind. But the Congress vice-president should not have used the term in this situation. “At a time when the whole country is getting ready to fight terrorism, when the Indian Army is displaying valour and bravery in eliminating terror, this statement by Rahul Gandhi could affect the will power of our soldiers,” Sri Shah said. How crass it is for someone to use the term dalali in context of the sacrifice of our jawans! Our soldiers’ sacrifice is priceless. Sri Rahul Gandhi’s statement smacks of the bankruptcy of ideas in the Congress camp.

When the Congress used to rule, Sri Shah said, whenever the Army proposed to devastate the camps of terrorists, the then government facilitated legal aid to terror suspects to prove them innocent. Extending that dubious policy, the Congress has hurt the sensibilities of our soldiers once again. The BJP president said that in the 10 years of reign of the UPA-led government, the defence forces’ needs were neglected; the then ruling party was instead busy siphoning off public money. Today, when the Army is being supplied with the equipment and technology it demands, when the Army is in high spirits fighting the enemy, the opposition is making baseless allegations, which is shameful.

She Shah said that he could understand why Sri Rahul ji has problems with Sri Modi ji. By coining phrases like “maut ke saudagar”, “zaher ki kheti” and “khoon ki dalali”, the Congress cannot deny the reality. The “maut ke saudagar” remark was followed by the BJP retaining power in Gujarat with a twothird majority. The “zeher ki kheti” comment saw the BJP win parliamentary elections with a full majority. What is Rahul Gandhi’s intention in framing an obnoxious phrase all over again?

The whole country, with all its enthusiasm and energy, salutes our jawans’ bravery, courage and professionalism. The BJP stands united with our soldiers, Sri Shah said, adding that the morale of our soldiers should not be affected at any cost. We do not trust the statements of anti-India leaders; we have faith in the bullets of the Indian Army. The Army is wholly capable of defending the country, he said. With the Prime Minister, Sri Narendra Modi ji, at the helm, no one can dare cast an evil eye on India’s borders, no one will get away with invectives thrown at the brave soldiers, and no one can behead an Indian soldier. The Modi government, Sri Shah said, was standing rock solid in support of the Army with all the political will at his disposal. He said that the BJP has always respected the valour of Indian soldiers and we do not believe in politicising the Army. The Congress has the gall to accuse us of politicising warfare when it had splashed the newspapers claiming credit for the 1971 war at its conclusion. Sri Shah said that no major leader of the BJP had issued any political statement on the surgical strikes. The whole country is upbeat about the surgical strikes, he said, demanding to know why Sri Rahul Gandhi is not happy about it or proud of it. He said that every worker of the BJP feels proud of the military operation as is every citizen of the country. If Sri Rahul Gandhi has a problem with the people of the country and BJP feeling proud of the achievement of the surgical strikes, the problem is actually in his thoughts. Instead of commenting on such major issues, he could concentrate on the ‘potato factory’.

Sri Shah said it was festive season in India and people are celebrating Navratri, awaiting Diwali, and also saluting the bravery, courage and professionalism of our jawans. The surgical strikes across the LoC establish the Modi government’s policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism. The achievement of the strikes is of the Indian Army. The political will to sanction the same is of the Prime Minister, Sri Narendra Modi ji. “If the cynics had studied the restiveness and loss of nerve in Pakistanis, they would not have to seek any proof of the surgical strikes. I would like to say just this much to our detractors,” Sri Shah said.

On behalf of the BJP, Sri Shah deplored and condemned Sri Rahul Gandhi’s statement. The Congress president, Smt Sonia Gandhi, must explain whether her son’s view is her view as well, he said. Rahul ji will be well advised to limit the use of the term “dalali” (brokerage) to his party and not impose it on us. May his party stay happy with such activities! “The BJP stands for the motto of “Jai Jawan”; we do not believe in dalali,” he said, adding that the whole country knew who did dalali in all the scams from Bofors to Embraer, from coal blocks to 2G.

The Indian media has played a remarkable role in exposing Pakistan-sponsored terrorism worldwide, Sri Shah said. He appreciated the work of the media that has been united in presenting to the people the facts that not only boosted the confidence of the Army but also energised the whole country. Sri Shah praised the media also for highlighting India’s success on the diplomatic front. He hailed the journalists who dug out facts from across the border to establish the authenticity of the surgical strikes as well as the extent to which terrorists are entrenched in Pakistan. He congratulated the media for the good job.
