Scholarship to meritorious students is given by many schools, but it is found to be a small amount of fee the student has to pay to the school. The reason is that the scholarship is worked out on the amount of Tuition Fee alone which is mostly a very small part of the fee. Removing this anomaly and making the things transparent, a school from Faridabad has introduced the policy of “Full Scholarship” to the students meeting the laid out criteria. Grand Columbus International School, Faridabad has introduced the system of allowing scholarship to meritorious students irrespective of any cast or religion.  Suresh Chander, Managing Director of the school, said in a press conference that the school has initiated the policy of scholarship in the memory of Missile Man and former President of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.  He said that the scholarship has been named after the great scientist “APJ Abdul Kalam Scholars’ Award”.

Sharing the parameters on which the scholarship would be allowed, Suresh Chander said that it has been decided that the students securing 9.5 to 10 or equivalent percentage in CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) in SA2 examination would be allowed 100% scholarship meaning that the student has to arrange for transportation to school and back to home.  No part of fee is to be paid by the student. Apart from the fee exemption the students matching the said criteria would also be given NCERT course books, Stationery and a set of uniform for winters as well as summer. The student need not pay anything for all this, said Suresh Chander.

For another category (B) of students securing 9.0 to 9.4 or equivalent percentage in CGPA 100% of the Tuition Fee would be waived while a scholarship for 75% of Admission Fee and Annual Fee would be given. Apart from this scholarship these students would also be getting Stationery and NCERT Books free of cost.

Two other categories for students getting 8.5 to 8.9 and 8.0 to 8.4 are also categorized with different set of scholarships, said Suresh Chander.

Apart from the above said criterion set based on their academic performance in class X, the aspirants have to appear in an Admission cum Scholarship test to be held on 28th November.  The students achieving the desired result would be given the scholarship for consecutive two years, said Suresh Chander.
