New Delhi: Education and raising awareness will prove more instrumental than making strict laws to prevent child marriage, Shabana Azmi said.

Azmi was speaking at a symposium, ‘eliminating child marriage in India’ organised by ActionAid, Child Right Focus and Beti Bachao in New Delhi.

Azmi has been a recipient of several national awards, including Padma Bushan. A report of statistics on the child marriage and reproductive health of females was also released at the event.
