Delhi, Sept 19th, 2022: Lok Sabha MP and author Shashi Tharoor, who is believed to be a candidate for the post of Congress President, met with Sonia Gandhi at her residence in Delhi.
The meeting comes ahead of the presidential polls which are to be held on 17th October.
Tharoor also recently gave his public approval to a group of Congress youth members who are seeking reforms in the party, fair elections, and introducing the format of one post per family in the party.
He shared the petition on Twitter, adding that it has been signed by over 650 people till now.
Shashi Tharoor, along with fellow party leaders Deepender Hooda, Jai Prakash Agarwal, and Vijendra Singh reached 10 Janpath Road on Monday to meet the interim president Sonia Gandhi.
He has been making headlines recently as he supports organizational reforms in the party and aims to change old ideologies.
However, he has not officially announced his decision to contest for the post of party president.
“So far I have neither ruled myself in nor ruled myself out”, Tharoor said while speaking about the elections.
Nominations for the Congress president will be filed between September 24 and 30. The election will be held on October 17 and the results will be declared two days later.
