Shashi Tharoor, Rajdeep Sardesai And Bishan Singh Bedi Speaks on ‘Cricket as Indian democracy’s alter ego’ At Times LitFest Delhi!

On Sunday Speaking at the Times Lit Fest in New Delhi, The Audiences couldn’t have asked for more as Shashi Tharoor, Rajdeep Sardesai and Bishan Bedi Came together to have an Enriching Session on “Cricket as Indian democracy’s alter ego”.

While Addressing The session, Rajdeep Sardesai said, “Cricket today is a sport which celebrates India’s diversity. Cricket was dominated by the old composite Bombay state. Now, small towns are being given opportunity, as witness MS Dhoni’s rise to international eminence from tiny Ranchi or, earlier, Kapil Dev’s from some obscure hamlet of Haryana”.

The Congress Leader, Shashi Tharoor also voiced his Opinion on the topic, Tharoor Jokingly Said “Cricket is an Indian sport accidentally discovered by the British”. On playing Cricket with Pakistan the Congress leader stated, “We should expand scope for people to people contact between India and Pakistan and I do believe India and Pakistan should play cricket”, added Tharoor.

Legendary Bishan Singh Bedi witty comments was the highlight of the session, “Cricket being an over priveledged sport is the simple case of demand and supply, said bedi.

He Further Said, Cricket has a certain value to it. ‘Cricket is the greatest sport in the country, but compared to what?’ the comment by Bedi left the audience thinking.
