New Delhi, July 22, 2023: In a disturbing turn of events, a purported video from Malda, West Bengal, has surfaced on social media platforms, depicting two women being brutally beaten and paraded half-naked.
According to initial reports, the incident took place in Malda’s Pakuahat area, where the women were caught on suspicion of theft and subjected to a violent thrashing by local people, mainly women shopkeepers. Surprisingly, no official complaint regarding the incident has been lodged with the West Bengal Police.
The police, upon discovering the video, initiated a preliminary investigation and revealed that the women were caught in the act of theft by local traders. The traders, mainly women, were the ones responsible for assaulting the accused women. However, after the incident, the women who caught them fled, and those involved in the beating refrained from filing complaints out of fear.
The police have now launched a full-fledged investigation into the matter and assured that appropriate action will be taken. The incident has garnered nationwide attention and raised questions about the safety and dignity of women in society.
In a separate incident, Manipur is grappling with tensions after a video emerged on social media platforms, showing two women being publicly paraded naked by a mob of men. The horrifying video, dated May 4, triggered outrage across the nation. One of the women was also gang-raped during the incident, and her brother lost his life while trying to intervene.
Opposition parties have strongly condemned both incidents and criticized the ruling BJP government over the handling of such atrocities. These appalling incidents underscore the urgent need for robust measures to ensure the safety and security of women in India.
As the nation grapples with these disturbing events, the public demands that swift and effective actions be taken to bring the perpetrators to justice and prevent such heinous acts in the future.
