SHRI RAM BABU SHARMA’S CONTRIBUTION TO DELHI CONGRESS CAN NEVER BE FORGOTTEN—AJAY MAKEN.

NEW DELHI, Jan 3—Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Ajay Maken today inaugurated a conference hall named after the late Shri Ram Babu Sharma, who was a former president of the DPCC and ex-MLA, at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan, here today. Thousands of Congress workers from all parts of Delhi attended the function, which clearly established how popular Shri Ram Babu Sharma was among the Congress workers of Delhi. Shri Vipin Sharma,  ex-MLA and son of Shri Ram Babu Sharma, along with his family members, were also present on the occasion.

Addressing thousands of Congress workers, Shri Ajay Maken said  when  he was given the responsibility to  head Delhi Congress by Honourable Congress president Smt. Sonia Gandhi and Congress vice-president Shri Rahul Gandhi, and when he officially took charge as president of the DPCC, he could see the picture of Shri Ram Babu Sharma on every brick  of the DPCC building, and wondered how he managed to raise such a magnificent  building for Delhi Congress, which has become a landmark, and  the pride of the Congress family of Delhi.

Shri Maken said he had then decided that one of the halls of Rajiv Bhawan would be named after Shri Ram Babu Sharma to commemorate his memory. He said Shri Ram Babu Sharma  was a grass-root level leader who understood the pulse of the party workers at the lowest rung, and worked shoulder-to-shoulder with them. And no wonder he was well-known among the party workers all over Delhi, and  has left an indelible mark in the hearts of the Congress workers, which will stay there for ever. Shri Maken said Shri Ram Sharma was one of the pillars of Delhi congress, who had played a decisive role in strengthening the party in Delhi.

Besides  Shri Ajay Maken, prominent others present at the function were ex-MLA Shri Vipin Sharma and his family members, ex-MPs Shri Ramesh Kumar and Shri Jagdish Tytler, ex-Ministers of Delhi Shri Arvinder Singh Lovely, Shri Haroon Yusuf, Dr Yoganand Shastri, Dr Narendra Nath, Shri Ramakanth Goswami, chief spokesperson Smt. Sharmistha Mukherjee, Leader of the Opposition in the MCD Mukesh Goel, Farhad Suri and Varyam Kaur,  ex-MLAs and Municipal Councillors, district Congress committee presidents and thousands of Congress workers.

Shri Ajay Maken said Congress party deligently follows its charted principles and the workers are taught to always remember the contributions and sacrifices of its leaders, as the ethos of the Congress party is ingrained in the blood of every party worker. He said the Congress party has a glorious 131-year-old history which is replete with momentous contributions and sacrifices before and after Independence by its leaders, which helped ensure that the country’s unity in diversity stayed intact.

Shri Vipin Sharma thanked Shri Ajay Maken and Delhi Congress for naming a hall of  Rajiv Bhawan after his father Shri Ram Babu Sharma, for which he and his family members would always be indebted to Shri Maken and Delhi Congress.
