SIAM kick-starts National Road Safety Week led by youngsters

New Delhi: Nurturing young influencers for safer roads, SIAM in partnership with Delhi Police, initiated the 31st National Road Safety Week.The road safety initiative that started on 11th January will run till 17th January. This year the focus will remain towards inculcating road safety practices at a young age.

The day started off with the Delhi traffic police walkathon with 1,000 student, NCC cadets that started at India Gate and concluded at Shastri Bhavan. It was followed by the inauguration ceremony in which Taj Hassan, Special Commissioner – Traffic, Delhi Police flagged off the walkathon.  

While the Dy Director General, Sugato Sen, as he lauds the participation at the Road Safety Walkathon and reassures SIAM’s commitment towards being an active voice for road safety.

Speaking at the event Taj Hassan said “This year’s National road safety week has been initiated with a walkathon to emphasise on pedestrian safety. I would urge everyone here to further spread the Road Safety messages among their peers”

The week-long initiative will have road safety driver training, health and eye check-up camps for drivers at 20 trucker hubs in India, a road safety workshop organised by the Ministry in every city participating in the event along with the other programs. A road safety workshop today for school bus drivers at DTI, Burari, also got organized in presence of traffic police officials
