New Delhi, 29 July 2022: Amid the controversial row involving Delhi Chief Minister’s visit to the World Cities Summit 2022, the Singapore government has reportedly withdrawn their invitation to Arvind Kejriwal after the deadline for the process lapsed.
Owing to the Delhi L-G Saxena’s refusal to give permission for the visit in Singapore, the Delhi govt has now blamed the centre for causing humiliation to the nation and New Delhi. The Delhi government had filed for permission to the L-G on June 7 and the file was returned on July 21. The last day to file the application on July 20.
“The Delhi LG had advised Kejriwal to not attend the conference since it is a conference of mayors. The chief ministers of other states have attended this conference in the past. Even the prime minister goes for state-related issues. This means politics at work. We will now approach the Ministry of External Affairs directly for political clearance and hope that they will accept our request,” Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister had said earlier. However, the Ministry of External Affairs’ Spokesperson stated that they had received the request for the political clearance of Delhi CM’s visit on July 21.
