New Delhi (India), April 7, 2023: Former education minister of Delhi and jailed Aam Aadmi Party leader, Manish Sisodia, has written a letter addressing the people of India, raising concerns about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s lack of educational qualification.
The letter, tweeted by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, alleges that a less-educated Prime Minister may not have the capacity to fulfill the aspirations of today’s youth, who are looking for opportunities to excel in science and technology.
Sisodia further claims that 60,000 schools have been closed in the country in the last few years.
“It is necessary to have an educated Prime Minister for India’s progress,” Sisodia stated in the letter.
The jailed leader’s comments come at a time when there is ongoing criticism of the Central government’s handling of education policy, with many questioning the closure of schools and the government’s lack of support for students during the pandemic.
Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on February 26 in connection with alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi Excise Policy 2021–22. His letter is likely to spark a fresh debate on the educational qualifications of political leaders and their suitability to lead the country’s progress.
