Sitharaman breaks her own record of longest budget speech delivering 2.43 hour long speech for Budget 20-21

New Delhi (01/02/2020): Whatever be the expert response on the second budget of Modi 2.0, but this speech has set a unique record. Nirmala Sitharaman has set the record for the longest budget speech in history.

Yes, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman gave a speech in Parliament for more than two hours thirty minutes while presenting the budget for the financial year 2020-21.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman started reading the budget speech at 11 am and her speech ended at 1:43 pm.

Her budget speech would have been longer, but in the end her health deteriorated a bit due to standing and speaking for about two and half hours. After that she did not read the last two pages of the budget speech.  For this, she took permission from the Speaker of Lok Sabha, and after the permission of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, the budget speech of Nirmala Sitharaman was considered fully read. With this, the Finance Minister ended the budget speech and placed it on the floor of the House.
