Six workers of Yogi Adityanath’s ‘Hindu Yuva Vahini’ thrash man, harass fiance

Lucknow, Apr 14: A day after a Muslim couple was dragged out of Shastri Nagar locality in Meerut by the members of the Hindu Yuva Vahini group formed by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, two people who claimed to be the member of Hindu Yuva Vahini (HYV) on Wednesday allegedly misbehaved with a woman and beat up her fiance in Meerut.

While the couple was on their way to the woman’s house on a scooter, six men, claiming to be the members of HYV intercepted the couple and later misbehaved with the woman. The fiance of the woman was also beaten up by the group for objecting and the group also attacked the man’s brother who later came to rescue the couple. the six men later took the brothers to the police station and complained that they were troubling the woman.

On the complaint of the six men, the police arrested the brothers and they were later released only after the woman reached the police station and narrated the entire incident to the police. “The man works in a private bank. He went to drop off his fiance last night when half a dozen people stopped them near PVS Mall and misbehaved with the woman. They claimed that they were part of the Hindu Yuva Vahini and were doing so under the anti-romeo campaign,” Medical police station in-charge Dharmendra Kumar said. After the woman narrated the entire incident, the attackers have been booked on the charges of voyeurism, voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation. The police have also arrested two people in the matter.

This is the second incident in a row in Meerut. On Tuesday, a Muslim couple was dragged out of Shastri Nagar locality in Meerut by the members of the HUV. After thrashing the man, the group handed him to the police, who later filed obscenity charges against the man.

The HYV was formed by Yogi Adityanath before he became the Chief Minister of the state. Several similar incidents about the couple being harassed by the members of HUV have occurred throughout the state. CM yogi had also instructed the police not to “harass innocent couples”. “The anti- Romeo squads have been formed to take action against anti- social elements. People who harass girls are not youth but ruffians,” the Chief Minister had said.
