Sony may pull out Spiderman from Marvel films over dispute with Disney
New Delhi: Superhero Spiderman might no longer be a part of Marvel as the talks between the Disney and Sony about profit-sharing has not worked out well. According to Hollywood reports, the cross-studio partnership is about to end and Sony will pull out Spiderman character from Marvel Cinematic Universe films.
The official rights to the Marvel character, Spiderman had been held by Sony since 1985, it was only in 2015 that Sony had announced its partnership with Disney and Marvel that allowed using the character in MCU films like ‘Avengers-Endgame’.
As per reports in Deadline, the dispute among the two production houses is over the profit-sharing structure. Disney had allegedly asked for 50-50 profit sharing for the future projects featuring the said character but Sony did not comply with it and the deal has been cracked between the two.
