Statement by BJP President, Shri Rajnath Singh on Telangana

I am happy that the Bill to grant statehood to Telangana has finally been passed today by the Lok Sabha. Had the Congress led UPA government brought this bill much earlier, the prevailing situation of chaos and outrage among the people in other parts of the state could have been easily averted. The Congress should be squarely blamed for this confusion and chaos in Andhra Pradesh.
Although the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill has made Telangana a reality but it has not adequately addressed the concerns of people living in Seemandhra and other areas of the state.
The manner in which the bill was pushed through by the government was not transparent and utterly undemocratic. The government should come out with certain concrete measures to address the concerns of Seemandhra and other regions of Andhra Pradesh.
