With the restructuring of the party organisation and by giving responsibilities to young and dynamic leaders, Swaraj India has made a new beginning in Delhi. 29 year old Anupam, one of the founding members of Swaraj India, has been given the big responsibility of managing the Delhi affairs of the Party. Anupam’s name was announced by Party President Yogendra Yadav at a press conference held here at the Press Club today. Anupam is the Party’s Chief Spokesperson and is also a member of the Party’s Presidium.
Anupam, who, during his college time, was active in student-politics, is also fond of playing cricket, watching movies and writing poetry. After studying mechanical engineering, Anupam worked for a well-known MNC for four years, before putting in his papers in 2013 to join active politics.
Swaraj India has always laid emphasis on the involvement of youth in politics and this ideology is clearly reflected in the announcement of party’s new leadership. Not only the President of the new team but most of the office bearers are young energetic leaders. Swaraj India’s State General Secretary for Delhi, Navnit Tiwari is only 37 years old. Also the average age of all the secretaries in the party is a mere 35. The responsibility of the supervision of the party volunteers, offices and programs has been given to Surinder Singh Kohli, Nishant Tyagi and Raman Yadav.
Former MLA from Patel Nagar, Veena Anand and retired Army Colonel P. K. Ahlawat have been appointed as the Vice Presidents of Delhi unit of the party, while ex-banker Deepak Bhan has been appointed as the new Treasurer.
Right from ward level upto State level, the party has been restructured with all 70 Assembly Constituencies divided into a total of 14 zones with five assemblies each. Swaraj India has designated “Swaraj Kendra” as the fundamental organisational infrastructure. These Kendras will be active in every ward of Delhi to serve & struggle for the public and when needed, fight for their rights. Taking the “Swaraj Kendras” seriously, the party has appointed many of its leaders as “Swaraj Kendra Coordinators” across Delhi.
Anupam, while addressing the media after the big announcement, said, “Today the real task and dharma is to fight against the kind of dirty politics that is spreading across the country. And in this fight, it is the youth that will play the most important role. Be it the Congress or the AAP, the opposition in the country I discredit in public eye. There is immense disbelief and anger among the masses against both these parties in Delhi. The onus to keep the hopes of alternative politics alive is with us. It is we, who have to save & develop our country by defeating the divisive forces which are attacking the very soul & ethos if our great nation. In the present alarming situation in the country today, the only hope of new-age politics is Swaraj India.”
Addressing the media, the National President of the party Yogendra Yadav said that his party has been keeping a strict watch on the Delhi government’s liquor policy. He also demanded that the Delhi government make public its excise policy for the current financial year and seek public opinion on it. He also demanded that the liquor vends that have been opened without obtaining the consent of the locals, be immediately closed down. He also spoke about exposing the government’s scandals in granting licenses to liquor vends.
Swaraj India had earlier raised its voice against Delhi government’s policy to grant license to liquor vends without consulting the local public. The Party had also held public hearings against such liquor vends in residential areas. Swaraj India’s public campaign against proliferation of such liquor vends had forced Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to announce that the Delhi government will not grant any further liquor license for the financial year.
It is the common people, especially women, who have to suffer because of the anti-people liquor policy of the government. The new leadership of Swaraj India has expressed it’s seriousness towards the issue.
