Salem, 11th June 2023: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin inaugurated finished projects worth Rs 1367 crore in this district on Sunday and set the groundwork for new ventures totalling Rs 236 crore.
According to a government announcement, the CM dedicated several finished projects, including a refurbished bus stop, multi-story parking spaces, additional classrooms in schools, new structures for primary health centres, and new roadways. Among the others were the Ilampillai integrated drinking water network and the district disaster response facility at the Salem Steel factory.
He also took the opportunity to take a jibe at the previous AIADMK administration and the central government. The leader claimed that the financial management in the state was turbulent in the previous administration and accused it of ‘blindly’ backing all the ‘restrictions’ that the Centre placed on the state. He added that the GST scheme has led to the state ‘losing’ its right.
He said that his administration needed to improve the state’s financial management without burdening the citizens. He noted that the government DMK had reduced the income gap while launching new plan programmes.
CM Stalin also stated that the party had not stopped launching new initiatives due to a lack of funds.
