A Teachers training program
‘BLISS’ (Biotechnology Labs in Senior Secondary Schools) was held at Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram on 16 May 2017. 45 teachers from the States of Assam, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura and Mizoram who manage the BLISS program attended the same along with Officials from the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Indian Environmental Society and Department of Environment, Delhi. The Principal Ms Vanita Sehgal welcomed all the teacher delegates and assured all possible help for making the programme an enriching experience. The Vice Principal ,Ms Anita Singh highlighted the role of Biotechnology in the fields of medicine, agriculture and industry.
The program commenced with Webinar with 2 students pursuing Biotechnology in the US followed by a demo of DNA isolation, gram positive staining of Curd bacteria, blood cell counting, Internet based experiments, Gel electrophoresis, Cell Viability Test which was given by the Biotechnology students of Class XII under the guidance of Ms Niva Chhonkar, Biology Coordinator in the Senior Biology Lab. The delegates were made familiar with various instruments used in Biotechnology experiments like spectro
photometer, autoclave, shaker water bath, Laminar Air Flow, Trans illuminator etc. A presentation on Swachh Bharat Initiatives in the school was given by Ms Rupa Das, Geography Coordinator. The program was perfectly organised by Ms M Sudeshna. Dr B C Sabata, Coordinator Eco club Activities, Delhi Schools and Colleges thanked the Principal for hosting the program.
