NEW DELHI – 28th MARCH’24 – The election process for the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts, aimed at appointing members to the Committee of Administration, is overseen by the Development Commissioner Handicraft, Government of India.

A returning officer and an election committee, duly appointed by the Development Commissioner Handicraft, Government of India, meticulously handle the entire election procedure. The e-voting system is conducted under their vigilant supervision by the esteemed national agency NSDL (National Securities Depository Limited). This agency is authorized by the company law board under the Companies Act, making it mandatory to engage such authorized entities for this purpose.

However, during the recent election proceedings, technical glitches were encountered in the NSDL’s e-voting system. Following a deliberation chaired by S.K. Jha, Senior Director at DC Handicrafts, the matter was thoroughly discussed at the office of the Development Commissioner Handicraft, Government of India. It was unanimously decided to suspend the e-voting process until the technical issues are resolved.

Rajesh Rawat, Additional Executive Director and Secretary of EPCH, reassured stakeholders that fresh dates for conducting the e-voting will be finalized promptly and communicated to all concerned parties.
