Srinagar, 27 December 2022: At least three terrorists were killed in an encounter in Srinagar this morning after security forces stopped a truck they were traveling in outside of Jammu, according to authorities.
According to police, the truck caught fire during the gunfight, and firefighters were dispatched to put it out.
“A truck was moving in the neighborhood in a strange manner. The truck was halted by police at a checkpoint. Terrorists hiding inside the truck fired at security personnel as they began searching it. In response, the terrorists were all slain,” Mukesh Singh, the additional director general of Jammu’s police, said.
The truck driver, according to Singh, has managed to get away, and a search effort is ongoing to find him.
The entire region was immediately blocked off and all highway traffic was halted following the encounter.
According to police, the interaction began around seven in the morning.
Yesterday, a significant terrorist attack was prevented in Udhampur, close to Jammu, thanks to authorities defusing a 15-kilogram improvised explosive device (IED).
According to officials, the discovery of the cylindrical IED, 300-400 grams of RDX, seven 7.62 mm bullets, and five detonators in the Basantgarh area led to the disruption of a significant terror plot.
