New Delhi (29/04/2023): Tesla Power USA announced a partnership with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) to sell and service batteries at the state-owned firm’s petrol pumps.
According to a statement from Tesla Power, the relationship will allow the company to sell and service batteries at over 36,000 IOCL gas pumps across India.
The statement said, “This will be the first national-level tie-up with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd for battery distribution. To start with, Tesla Power USA batteries will be available at the select IOCL fuel pumps in the Delhi-NCR region, which will be subsequently expanded to other states.”
Tesla Power USA MD Kavinder Khurana stated that his company presently has over 5,000 distribution outlets in India and plans to increase that number by 2023. The addition of IOCL fuel stations could provide Tesla Power USA with a distribution reach of over 40,000.
The TBA concept of installing batteries at petrol stations has the potential to provide considerable benefits to customers, such as the convenience of receiving a battery replacement or new purchase while refuelling their vehicle, saving them time and effort.
Furthermore, the availability of a diverse range of battery options can help customers find the right battery model for their vehicle, reducing the hassle of searching for the correct battery model elsewhere.
The success of this collaboration will pave the road for the TBA concept to be replicated in phases across India, making it easier for clients across the country to receive battery-related services simply and reliably.
