Textiles Secretary reviews Trade Facilitation Centre in Jodhpur

NEW DELHI – 23rd March, 2021: Today Upendra Prasad Singh, IAS, Secretary, Textiles, Govt. of India made a visit to the under construction Trade Facilitation Centre (TFC), Jodhpur along with Mudita Mishra, Addl. Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles and Nikhil Verma, Addl Development Commissioner (Handloom).

Present on the occasion were Hans Raj Behati Member COA, Lekhraj Maheshwari, Member COA and Convener NWR, Bharat Dinesh – President JHEA, Maneesh Mehta Regional coordinator EPCH, Nirmal Bhandari, Member EPCH, Piyush Bhandari – Secretary JHEF, Rajendra Mehta – Member EPCH, S. Vishnoi, President, Laghu Udyog Bharti and other NWR members and prominent member exporters. The secretary showed a keen interest in the facilities developed by the Council for the service of member exporters, said Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Director General – EPCH.

The Council also organised a small exhibition and live demonstration by the artisans of Hand block Printing, Hand Embroidery, Leather mojri, Punja Durries, Tie & Die etc, also display and live demonstration was done by the Gramin Vikas Evam Chetna Sansthan, Barmer.

Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary Textiles talked about the work done by the EPCH for the craft clusters and handicrafts sector and shared his experience about the work undertaken by him in the past in Jodhpur craft and  furniture sector. R. K. Verma, Executive Director-EPCH welcomed Secretary Textiles and member exporters and thanked them for their time and efforts in the promotion of the Handicrafts sector. The Secretary Textiles had interaction with the member exporters, artisans and craft persons.

The Handicrafts exports during the year 2019-20 was Rs. 25,270.14 crores and during eleven months i.e. April-February’ 2020-21 is Rs. 22,774.58 Crores and USD 3062.76 Million and  exports from Jodhpur was Rs. 4404.59 during the financial year 2019-20, informed by Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Director General – EPCH.
