The handicraft exporters should not depend on the subsidies: R K Verma, Executive Director, EPCH

New Delhi, 29 June 2022: In the 23rd Export Award Presentation Function, R K Verma, the Executive Director, Exports Promotion Council for Handicrafts, in conversation with Ten News said that these awards recognises the outstanding performance of handicraft exporters.

 

When asked about Piyush Goyal, Union Minister’s appeal to make the exporters self-reliant by not depending on government grants, he stated that the minister has urged to create self-sustaining activities and products. “Like in handicrafts sector, the exporters should not depend on the subsidies or the government grants. They always think how to create the value addition and getting the mileage for that,” he added.

 

In response to the handicraft sector’s role in meeting the government target of crossing $1 trillion dollar merchandise goods exports, the Executive Director of EPCH R K Verma said that the handicraft industry is definitely playing a significant role. “Last year, almost 23% was the export growth and all are the self-sustaining and aatmanirbhar bharat products. So the contribution of the handicraft sector is growing significantly,” he concluded.

The glittering EPCH’s Award function was attended by about 700 stake holders and veterans from Textile and Handicrafts Sector.
