Noida, Wednesday January 2016. In an exclusive event organized by ‘The Manthan School’ to take reading to the next level, a very thoughtful initiative has been planned by the name of ‘Book-a-Saurus’, for the students, teachers and parents to develop the quality of reading and enhance language skills in children. The school provided special time-slot and books to the students and the entire staff will also read at the given time. ‘Manju Thareja’, head mistress, The Manthan School, also participated in the programme and urged teachers and students in school to sign up for this year’s campaign.  The reading period takes place for two weeks from January 20th 2016.

Researches have proved that the vast mass of knowledge can be gained by reading. It is one of the most effective ways of building the ‘language’ neural connections in the growing brains. The students were provided with the ‘Reading Log’, a ‘Pledge Sheet’, a ‘Piggy Bank’ and books of their interest to read in school and at home. After the completion of a story or a book, the students were required to collect a ‘Book-a-Saurus Placard’ from the teacher and fill it. By the end of two weeks, the students who gather the maximum number of the placards will be adjudged as the most well- read Student of the school. Students need to find the sponsor who will pledge a certain amount of money for every page of a book that the child reads. At the end of the programme, each student will donate the money collected by them to buy stationery items for the students of underprivileged school (Sai Siksha Sansthan, Expressway, Noida).

The Book-a-saurus programme is the biggest school based-reading initiative by ‘The Manthan School’ in Noida. ‘Divya Jain’, Director, The Manthan School said: “We are encouraging children, the teachers and parents to get involved in such activities to meet or support their children providing a motivation and an incentive for reading, we would appreciate the involvement of the parents and the family.
