Thousands including Engineers and PhD holders show up for Delhi government’s Multi tasking staff vacancy Interview

New Delhi: The unemployment has shot up in the country and this once again has proved when Food and Supply department of Delhi government sought application for six contractual Multi Tasking Staff (MTS) posts where thousands of aspirants applied for the post.

A week ago, the department has issued a notification for the post of Multi Tasking Staff purely on contractual basis to outsource in Food and Supply department with a fix salary of Rs 16, 858.

As per the notification, people from 18 to 40 age groups, posing intermediate degree were qualified to apply for the post and slated for Walk-in Interview on July 12 during office hours. Though, thousands of aspirants, including those having PG and Engineering degree reached at Food and Supply department office (ITO) with their documents for the interview despite the killing heat.

However, most of the applicants returned empty handed when department announced to interview hundred candidates a day owing to the huge and unruly crowd.

Talking to Ten News, a aspirant, Rahul Tomar (Name change) said, “As per the notification, I have reached sharp 9 o’clock, however, after spending my entire day in such humid condition without food. At 5 pm, I have been informed that your interview may be schedule on Monday.”

He further said, “I have B.E degree and looking for job for last 6 months.”

While other aspirant, Juhi Kaur (name changed) said that she is doing PG from IGNOU and looking for job but after too much struggle, I have failed to get an interview.”

Requesting anonymity a food and supply department official said, “The crowd was expected. It is just a contractual post of MTS but we have received thousands of over qualified applicants.”
