Thousands of Uttarakhand Congress leaders protest against neglect of state by centre in New Delhi.

 New Delhi /Dehradun  August 13, 2015  Congress leaders from Uttarakhand state today staged protest outside the BJP MP and Former CM Ramesh Pokriyal Nishank’s house in New Delhi against step motherly treatment by centre of the state and “ignoring the interests” of the hill state.

The protest by thousand of Congress workers from Uttarakhand led  by Congress State General Secretary Shilpi Arora was first part of the  agitation named ‘Give Uttarakhand its right and justice’ and has begun with a protest called “Jawab Do, Hisab Do” . The workers also shouted slogans against PM Narendra Modi for getting them detained .

Speaking on the occasion, state General Secretary Ms  Shilpi Arora  alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going back on the promises he had made to people of Uttarakhand in run up to the last Lok Sabha polls and BJP MPs from the state state have “shut their eyes”.

“Ever since the BJP government has come to power at Centre, the interests of Uttarakhand are being ignored even as BJP got an unprecedented victory in Lok Sabha elections from the state,” She said.

The state Congress general Secretary also demanded a special industrial package for the hill state and a separate package of Rs 10 thousand crore.

She also demanded that the “cut of Rs 5000 crore made in Union Budget for Uttarakhand” be given back to it and a sum of Rs 1000 crore should be sanctioned for Ardha Kumbh in Haridwar.

She said the residence of BJP MPs in Delhi will be gheraoed as part of the programme in protest against Centre “ignoring” the interests of Uttarakhand.

Claiming that the earlier UPA governments led by Congress at Centre never adopted a casual approach towards the interests of Uttarakhand.

Besides, the Congress workers will also hold protest against the Union Ministers whenever and wherever they visit in Uttarakhand.

“As the ongoing parliament session is likely to end on August 13, we will organize the gherao of the four other Lok Sabha MPs in the winter session,” Ms Arora added.
