Three dead in Lahori Gate Building Collapse, Delhi Police Files FIR

New Delhi, 10 October 2022: In the recent building collapse at Lahori Gate, Central Delhi, three people including a 4-year-old lost their lives and nine were saved, according to authorities.

The building reportedly collapsed on Sunday night as a result of heavy rain. Simultaneously, the Delhi Police has filed an FIR in line with sections causing death by negligence or rash acts, endangering the life or personal safety of others and certain other charges.

The building has three levels, according to a fire officer. After receiving a call regarding a roof collapse, they arrived at the scene to find that the entire structure had collapsed.

The fire department claims that at around 7.30 p.m. they were informed of the collapse in the Lahori Gate neighborhood. The caller stated that a house in the Frash Khana neighborhood had its roof collapse.

Additionally fire trucks after five fire engines were deployed to the site when the entire building had collapsed. Five people who were buried under the rubble were rescued and taken to the hospital. The rescue effort is still ongoing, the official stated.

Later, four more victims were extricated from the rubble and taken to the hospital. Nine individuals in total were admitted to LNJP Hospital. Amara (45), Nilofar (50), Mohd Imran (40), Sukhbir (34), Ankit (28), Ashok (40), and Sayaid Jishan were among those hurt. Each person is receiving treatment. While a 4-year-old was pronounced dead on arrival, the official added.
