New Delhi, 6 May 2022: The Central Sanskrit University on Friday hosted a press conference to inform about its upcoming mega event, ‘Utkarsh Mahotsav’, in New Delhi.
Utkarsh Mahotsav is a three-day event from 7th May to 9th May 2022, organised jointly by the Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University, New Delhi and National Sanskrit University, Tirupati.
The event will feature deliberations on promotion of Sanskrit language and it will be joined by top leaders of the country including JP Nadda and Murli Manohar Joshi.
During the press meet, Prof. Srinivasa Varakhedi, VC of Central Sanskrit University said, “Sanskrit is not merely a language but a school of learning. The Sanskrit language is at the core of Indian culture, however, its importance is undermined in today’s time. This initiative (Utkarsh Mahotsav) is to integrate the Sanskrit language and make it a core subject in the academic institutions.
Prof Murli Manohar Pathak, VC of Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University said, “It has become imperative to explore Sanskrit as a language. In today’s time, with less knowledge of the language even the translations of Sanskrit texts are inaccurate.”
Prof Radhakant Thakur, VC of National Sanskrit University said, “It is due to the influence of the west that it is the need of the hour to reinstate the legacy of Sanskrit. We are taking initiatives with the government to promote and encourage Sanskrit internationally as well.”
