Traffic moves at snail’s pace in Delhi on Tuesday

New Delhi, Feb 14 (IANS) Commuters and office goers had a tough time reaching their destinations, especially in Noida and south Delhi, due to heavy traffic on different stretches of the city on Tuesday.

The vehicles crawled at a snail’s pace from Ashram Chowk towards Delhi Noida Direct flyway.

“It usually takes me 45 minutes to reach my office in Noida Sector 18 but today (Tuesday) I won’t be able to reach on time from my house in Bhogal,” said Rajan Sharma, a marketing executive with a bank.

Commuters from south Delhi’s Kalkaji Extension towards Noida, too had to face similar condition as a truck carrying the metro equipments broke down on the Noida bridge near Kalindi Kunj.



People were left stranded for almost an hour near Kalindi Kunj as the traffic was chocked.

“I started for my office near Kalkaji Extention at 9 a.m. and it has been more than one hour that I am still stuck here,” beautician Seema Sharma told IANS.

Following the heavy traffic, the Delhi Traffic Police on Twitter wrote: “Traffic is heavy in the carriageway from Moolchand towards Ashram due to breakdown of a DTC Bus near Lajpat Nagar Bus Stand.”

“Traffic is heavy in the carriageway from Kalindi Kunj towards Noida due to breakdown of a truck near Kalindi Kunj,” it added.
