New Delhi (India), April 17, 2023: The Maharashtra Bhushan Award ceremony held in Khargar turned into a nightmare after 11 people lost their lives due to heatstroke.

Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, along with his son Aditya Thackeray and NCP leader Ajit Pawar, visited the MGM Kamothe Hospital to take stock of the situation.

Thackeray expressed his disappointment with the event’s organization and questioned who would investigate the incident.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde declared that the state government would provide Rs. 5 lakh to the families of the deceased and bear the medical expenses of those undergoing treatment. “This is a very unexpected and painful incident, and we share in the grief of their families,” tweeted Shinde.

Tata Hospital in Kharghar also received patients who suffered from heatstroke during the event.

The tragic incident has raised questions about the safety measures taken during such events. As investigations begin, the families of the deceased mourn their loss, and the state government works to provide support to those affected.
