New Delhi, Sep 02, 2023: A shocking incident of a tribal woman being allegedly beaten and paraded naked in Rajasthan’s Pratapgarh district has ignited public outrage and calls for justice.

The victim’s father, speaking to reporters, expressed the traumatic ordeal, stating, “The incident took place day before yesterday. They (the accused) ruined everything. They stole her dignity. They beat her up and tore her clothes. Later, they came to drop her home. There were four to five people.”

The incident came to light after a video of the assault went viral, prompting immediate action. Rajasthan’s Director General of Police, Umesh Mishra, confirmed the detention of eight accused, including the woman’s husband. A total of ten accused have been booked in the case under relevant sections of the law, with efforts underway to apprehend the remaining two suspects.

Prominent political figures have condemned the incident, with BJP leader and Lok Sabha MP Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore taking to social media to criticize the state government’s handling of law and order. He questioned, “What happened to Rajasthan’s pride?”

BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala also decried the incident, highlighting the deteriorating situation for women in Rajasthan. He called for accountability from political leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Rahul Gandhi, emphasizing that such issues should not be exploited for political gain.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot responded to the incident, assuring that strict action would be taken against the accused, and the case would be expedited in a fast track court.

The appalling incident has sparked widespread outrage, renewing calls for the protection of women’s rights and safety across India.
