Twitter reacts to DTP’s failure to deal with alleged illegal encroachment by Protestors at Shaheen Bagh

New Delhi, 12th Jan: Today, residents from Sarita Vihar and nearby areas are out on roads to protest against the alleged illegal encroachment by protestors at Shaheen Bagh in South Delhi which has been causing a lot of trouble to commuters.

Shaheen Bagh has been the hub of protests against CAA and NRC from past several weeks and has resulted in blockage of road no. 13A between Mathura Road and Kalindi Kunj.

Earlier on 10th January, The High Court of Delhi had refused to entertain a plea to remove barricades in the Shaheen Bagh area of Delhi..

This blockage of road No. 13A leaves the concerned people with only 2 main options to choose from to commute to Delhi from Noida or vice versa.

Both of these options – Akshardham and DND are taking way more traffic baggage which is causing a lot of inconvenience for people.

Earlier in the morning today, the Delhi Traffic Police issued a traffic advisory saying, “People coming from Noida are advised to take DND or Akshardham to reach Delhi.”

This advisory misfired and people started blaming the Delhi Police for their failure in dealing with alleged illegal encroachment by protestors at Shaheen Bagh.

One twitter user who was apparently frustrated by the lack of efforts by Delhi Police in dealing with this situation, wrote, “Shame on @DelhiPolice… Some misguided people numbering a few dozen hijacking a road causing inconvenience to a million people a day & all you can do is ask people not to use it. #ShameOnDelhiPolice you can’t even remove illegal encroachment. That road is NOT a place to protest.”

Another user wrote, “Shame on delhi police and local administration. Dozen peoples hijacking the city causing inconvenience to lakhs of peoples. Sorry state of affairs. Close schools, colleges and offices completely.”
