New Delhi (India) 2nd Feb 2023: Two men were injured in an attempted shooting in Bhogal, southeast Delhi, on Wednesday afternoon. Police have identified two suspects in the case who are yet to be arrested.

The incident occurred around 1:40 p.m. when two men on a motorbike attempted to shoot Nikhil, a 24-year-old resident of Pant Nagar.

However, the gunmen missed their target and instead shot two bystanders: Neeraj, 24, an autorickshaw driver, and Mohammad Gulzar, 18, a worker at a tent house. Both men sustained bullet injuries and were admitted to the AIIMS Trauma Center.

Nikhil believes the attack to be related to a murder case from April 2020, in which he had come out of jail on bail in November last year. He said that he, Neeraj, and another friend had gone to a bank to deposit money, but the machine was not working. They then went to a tea stall, and the gunmen arrived and started shooting.

Ramchandra Batra, owner of the tent house, said that Gulzar had been working for him for four months and was to have traveled home to Bihar the next day. He added that the spot is usually crowded with parents picking up schoolchildren, but luckily no child was injured in the attack.

The incident has been captured by a CCTV camera, and a case has been registered under Sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of a common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

The police are continuing their investigation to apprehend the suspects.
