 Two members of notorious Gulel Gang involved in theft arrested.
 2 stolen pistols, 4 live cartridges and motor cycle used in crime recovered
 21 cases of theft worked out.
 Accused persons used to commit theft of mobile phones, laptops and other valuables from the cars parked in the parking or at roadside by breaking the windowpanes with the help of ‘Gulel’.

A team of AATS, South District has arrested two members of notorious Gulel Gang namely Shashi Kumar @ Arun r/o Madangiri, Delhi and Deepak r/o Tigri Camp, Delhi and recovered two stolen pistols, 4 live cartridges and motor cycle used in commission of crime from their possession.

Brief facts :
On 10.07.15, the complainant Sh. Ashok Kumar had visited Laxmi Narayan Mandir, Malviya Nagar and parked his car (make Fortuner) in front of the temple. After 10-15 minutes when he came back, he found side glass of window of his car broken and his bag containing Laptop, licensed Pistol with 4 cartridges, one loaded Magazine containing four cartridges, cash Rs. 75,000/- and other articles were stolen. In this regard, a case vide FIR No 1339/15 dated 10.07.15 u/s 379 IPC was registered at PS Malviyia Nagar and investigation was taken up.
Investigation :
The investigation of the case was assigned to AATS, South District to arrest the culprits involved in such criminal activities and to recover the stolen property. Accordingly, a police team consisting of HC Sudhir, HC Jai Kumar, HC Ashok Rana, Ct Govind Singh, Ct Sandeep, Ct Kunwar Pal and Ct Manender led by SI Gajender was formed. During investigation, the police team worked relentlessly and geared up its resources to get clues about the culprits. On 09.10.15, on receipt of secret information, the team laid a trap at Dhaula Peer, M.B. Road, Lado Sarai and arrested two persons, riding on a motor cycle. They were identified as Shashi r/o Madangiri, Delhi and Deepak r/o Tigri Camp, Delhi. On search, two stolen Pistols along with 4 live cartridges were recovered from their possession, which were stolen from the Fortuner car of complainant and a Scorpio car in Malviya Nagar.
Interrogation :
During interrogation, both the accused persons disclosed to have committed many incidents of theft from the cars in South Delhi by using the same modus operandi. They always carry pistol with them to use the same in case of any resistance or being apprehended by public. They further disclosed that initially they conduct reconnaissance in the area such as markets and roads on their motor cycle to identify the cars wherein bag, brief case, laptop, etc. is kept. Thereafter, they will take position nearby the vehicle and will break the windowpane of that car with the help of ‘gulel’. During this period, co-accused will analyze the movement of public.
Profile of accused persons :

1. Shashi Kumar @ Arun (age 26 years) r/o Madangiri, Delhi is a school dropout. He is residing separately from his family and changes his whereabouts frequently to avoid catch by police. In order to earn fast and easy money, he joined Michal Gang and started committing theft. He was previously arrested in theft of 4 kgs. gold and cash in the area of I.P. Estate along with other associates. After release from jail, he formed his own gang and started committing theft of valuables, cash, laptops, etc. from cars, parked in parking or at roadside. He is previously involved in case FIR No. 186/14 u/s 379/411/34 IPS PS I.P. Estate and FIR No. 2795/14 u/s 323/341/356/506 & 27/54/59 Arms Act PS Mehrauli.

2. Deepak (age 23 years) r/o Tigri Camp, Delhi is a school dropout. Recently, he came in contact with accused Shashi Kumar and in order to earn easy and fast money, he joined him in crime. He is previously involved in 4 cases of theft of PSs Amebdkar Nagar, Malviya Nagar, Dwarka (North) and Rajouri Garden.
