Udaipur Cement’s unique initiative in the field of green energy: Launch of floating solar power plant

Mumbai, 5th April: Taking an important step in the field of green energy, Udaipur Cement Works Limited, one of the reputed cement companies of the country, installed a solar plant at its Daroli Mines. 1 MW solar plant was inaugurated by Mr. Bhanwar Singh Bhati, Minister of State for Power, IGNP, Water Resource Department, Government of Rajasthan.

On this occasion, Mr. Bhati said that the government is running many schemes to promote solar energy and congratulated the Udaipur Cement management for setting up a solar plant. He also said that the floating solar power plant would meet the energy needs of Udaipur Cement and provide an efficient and sustainable solution for environmental protection.

Mr. Shrivats Singhania, CEO and Director, UCWL said “This floating solar plant is unique in itself and the first in the country’s cement industry. This solar plant will emit 1500 Metric Tonnes of less carbon per year, which is equivalent to planting 1.5 lakh trees in a year. By installing this floating solar plant, approximately 8000 cubic meter per year water evaporation will be reduced. It will contribute to Udaipur Cement’s commitment to reduce carbon footprint.

Along with this, Shri Singhania also flagged off the goods train at the new broad gauge railway siding of the company. This trek has started again after 21 years by which the company will be able to transport its goods to its customers. Mr. Mahendrajit Singh Malviya, Minister of IGNP of Rajasthan, Mr. Jagdishraj Shrimali, Mrs. Preeti Shaktawat also graced the occasion. Mr. Naveen Kumar Sharma (Whole Time Director, UCWL), Mr. Shashikant Kumar, Mr. OP Gadhvi and Mr. Siddharth Vashisht from the company were also present.
