Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan urge doctors to end their strike in larger interest of society!
New Delhi: Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan wrote to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on ongoing doctors’ strike in the state, asking her to ‘personally intervene to resolve the current impasse.’
Indian Medical Association (IMA) delegation also meet Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan over the ongoing strike of doctors in West Bengal.
Union Health Minister, Dr Harsh Vardhan on doctors’ nationwide strike over violence against doctors in West Bengal,said, I’d like to assure all doctors that Govt is committed towards their safety. I appeal to doctors to hold symbolic protests only & continue to carry out their duties.
"I feel very sad that doctors across India had to strike work in protest against atrocities on doctors in W Bengal & consequently patients across India are suffering.I appeal to Mamata Banerjee to withdraw her ultimatum to the medical community & not make this a prestige issue," he said.
He further said, "Heinous repeated attacks on doctors across India esp WBengal have led to this situation.Govt must pass a Law to make any attack on Docs a non-bailable offence with min 12 yr jail. Draconian Clinical Establishment Act that treats Docs as criminals must be withdrawn."
"I urge doctors to end their strike in the larger interest of society. I will take all possible measures to ensure a safe environment for them at hospitals across the country. I’ll write to all states where such incidents have occurred & ensure safe working conditions for doctors," added Union Health Minister.
Where on the other hand, President of Resident Doctors’ Association, AIIMS, said, "All resident doctors are back to work but we will continue with symbolic protest by wearing black badges, bandages and helmets. If conditions worsen, we will go on an indefinite strike from June 17.
