UP Schools to reopen from Aug 16 with 50% attendance, Colleges from Sept 1

Lucknow, 2nd August: The Uttar Pradesh government on Monday announced that intermediate schools in the state can re-open from August 16 with 50% capacity. The state govt has also allowed colleges and universities to reopen from September 1, the admission process for which will be starting from August 5, 2021.

The detailed guidelines for schools and colleges is yet to be released by the government, but it is expected that the govt will set strict Covid protocols for students, teachers and staff so as to ensure a safe environment in campuses.

This decision by the UP govt has been taken in view of improved Covid situation in the state as there are only 664 active Covid cases in the state, at present.

Several states so far have allowed schools to re-open and conduct physical classes by following COVID-19 guidelines, including Punjab, Bihar, several parts of Maharashtra, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.
