#URIATTACK – ELECTRONIC MEDIA HAS MANHANDLED IT

I have been watching the way this entire attack in Uri has been handled by our electronic media. I am sad to note that in reckless race for TRP the security aspects have been ignored and seems no lessons have been learnt from coverage of Mumbai attack.

It is imperative that once an operation, covert or overt, is launched the planners and directors are deeply interested to know the successes, failures and total impacted out come. Normally it will take weeks or months to collect the information from covert methods and agents.

*Is it not foolish that we have provided them within hours even the minutest details with photographic and video evidences?*

Channels are broadcasting the details of names and ranks and even the Unit of casualties killed in action and burnt alive.

*Are we aware that identity and location of unit is a secret and even a soldier is not authorised to mention in his letters home*.

Enemy spends hugely to get photographs or sketches of locations and here we are providing them information officially for the whole day.

Please let us begin training of authorised war correspondents of various channels. Otherwise it will be a disaster.

Further, such details and graphics bring down the morale of own forces and boosts morale of attackers.
