Utkarsh Mahotsav: BJP Chief J.P Nadda hails the legacy of Sanskrit, says ‘Sanskrit Se Hi Sanskriti Hai’

New Delhi, 7 May 2022: The Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi on Saturday organised a three-day event, “Utkarsh Mahotsav”, to discuss the Global Orientation of Sanskrit Studies in the New Educational Era.

The event began with the lamp lighting ceremony where the dignitaries lighted the lamps to begin the auspicious event to reinstate the legacy of Sanskrit language.

National President of BJP, J. P. Nadda in his address emphasised on the legacy and richness of the Sanskrit language. He said, “Andhere se Ujale ki Taraf Le Jana Wala Sanskrit Hai. Jaha Sanskrit Hai Wahi Sanskriti Bhi Hai.”

“The roots of Science, Mathematics and Philosophy are in Sanskrit. It is not just a language but a way to achieve advancement in various dimensions of society and a bank of our ancient knowledge. That is why it needs to be preserved,” Nadda said further.

Assuring party’s support to the language, he said, “Sanskrit is a part of Indian culture and BJP will always support those who are working to protect our culture.”

Radhakant Thakur, Vice Chancellor, National Sanskrit University, Tirupati, in his address, said, “Today, the Hindus themselves do not know Sanskrit. It was due to invasion that Indian culture was affected and Indians were discouraged to learn their language, Sanskrit.”

“Time has come to give Sanskrit its due recognition and designate it as our national language. It is time to once again make the country, the great civilization of the world,” said Dr Vijay Bhatkar, Chancellor of Nalanda University.

“It was in the age of 50s that I was triggered to learn Sanskrit. We belong to the Sanskrit lineage and this language should be given its due respect. It will survive the contemporary influence because such initiatives taken by the three Sanskrit universities keep the language alive,” said Bibek Debroy, Chairman of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India in his address.

The event entailed presentations on the nature of Sanskrit courses the universities are offering and the reforms in the National Education Policy with regard to Sanskrit Learning. These reforms have eased out the Sanskrit learning procedure for the students, the participants observed.

The event was graced by J. P. Nadda, BJP President, Bibek Debroy, Chairman of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India, Dr Vijay Bhatkar, Chancellor of Nalanda University, Prof. Srinivasa Varakhedi, Vice Chancellor of Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi, Prof. Murli Manohar Pathak, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University, New Delhi, Prof. Radhakant Thakur, National Sanskrit University, Tirupati among other eminent personalities.
